LEONSEGS highlighted as a EU Space research project supporting the development of EO technologies
On 21 February 2025, HaDEA – European Health and Digital Executive Agency and DG DEFIS – Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space hosted in Brussels a Workshop on EU-funded R&I for Earth Observation (EO) Technologies.
The hybrid event brought together approximately 50 participants from 8 EU-funded Earth Observation projects and LEONSEGS was one of the projects invited. Carlos García from GMV presented LEONSEGS work.
The workshop sessions covered several key topics, including:
- Introduction on the strategic importance of EO for Europe, highlighting the HaDEA EO project portfolio and the policy landscape.
- Presentation of the European Partnership for Globally Competitive Space Systems (SPACE AISBL).
- Technical sessions presenting the latest project achievements and contributions to the development of European EO capabilities, covering both the space and ground segment.
- Breakout sessions with dynamic discussions on the community’s needs and priorities, including supply chain challenges, exploitation strategies, and future research & innovation needs.
In addition, HaDEA has also published “End-to-end Earth observation systems and services: an overview of EU Space research projects supporting the development of Earth observation”.
This publication showcases a selection of Horizon Europe Programme projects that are enhancing the competitiveness of the European space sector and expanding European capabilities to meet global commercial Earth observation challenges and markets.
