Europe has done a great job creating ways to share Earth Observation (EO) data, but there is still a gap when it comes to managing the ground systems behind it. Current policies just don’t cover shared networks that handle processing, archiving, and satellite tasking across public and private sectors.
Today, we are releasing our official paper: “LEONSEGS Policy Recommendation on sustainable and safe exploration on space.”
Using our own network as a real-world testbed, this document highlights 5 core policy problems and offers 10 practical recommendations to sort them out. Europe’s main hurdle isn’t the technology anymore, it’s the lack of shared rules and trust models. This paper shows decision-makers how to safely move from simply sharing files to running secure, connected satellite services.
